Symposium Submission Guide

The call for symposium abstracts is open. Topics of interest are centered on thematic areas related to innovation in educational methodology within these three areas.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PEDAGOGY: Methods and practice of teaching that deepen student learning experiences.

APPROACHES TO COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: Creative ways that students involve, motivate, and mobilize community  groups and individuals toward collective action.

METHODS OF COMMUNITY ANALYSIS: The ways in which students learn how to analyze and assess data, frame issues, design and propose interventions in communities.

Abstract submissions have been extended to January 5, 2019. Submissions will be considered for inclusion in the “Conversation Exchanges” (engaged panel discussions) and/or “Lightning Talks” (5 minute informative presentations) at the symposium. To submit please click the links below:

The symposium schedule will be confirmed by Mid February, 2019. Invited presenters will receive an honorarium to defray travel and lodging expenses. The symposium will be limited to a small number of community development educators in the United States. Priority will be given to individuals that submit proposals addressing issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
