Interest in CDE Collaborative

I am an Adjunct Professor of Community Development at Roger Williams University in Rhode Island and attended the 2019 Community Development Education Symposium in Detroit. I thrive on connecting with other Community Development Education professionals to share ideas and best practices. I integrate global learning into my community development curriculum, and am particularly interested in connecting with other Community Development educators who are engaging in similar work.

Quick Bio

Mary Ellen Lynch is an Adjunct Professor of Community Development at Roger Williams University | University College. She teaches community development courses through a global lens by integrating Global Citizenship Education (GCE) into curriculum. Her research exploring the larger concept of GCE has been published in Pathways to Research.

In 2019, Mary Ellen was one of five educators across the country to be awarded a USDA/NIFA Higher Education Challenge Grant to enhance community development education. Mary Ellen completed a Women’s Policy Institute Fellowship in 2019/2020 to expand her knowledge of systems change through policy and was a Hassenfeld Faculty Fellow for Community Engagement at Roger Williams University, expanding the integration of community involvement in her teaching. She has cultivated partnerships with human rights organizations in Nepal and Thailand to integrate global community engagement within her teaching.

Previously, Mary Ellen worked in the refugee resettlement field for eight years, building bridges between refugees and the broader Rhode Island community. Mary Ellen received her Master of Education from Boston University and her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Rhode Island.
