Exploring Community Development Higher Education

Building Capacity and Diffusing Innovation in Community Development Education is a three-year, U.S. Department of Agriculture-National Institute of Food & Agriculture (USDA/NIFA) Higher Education Challenge Grant funded to explore the current status of Community Development Education (CDE), while also building capacity and diffusing educational innovation. Throughout the initiative, researchers examine the status of graduate and undergraduate CDE programs, assembling and comparing student demographics, program epistemologies, philosophies, programmatic structures, and educational practices. They also gather input from U.S. community development practitioners about knowledge and skills currently being used, as well as further demands within the field.
